Great place to do car-spotting. There was a test drive event for the ELR so I saw a couple of those.
This is a sample of my new-old 50 mm lens I scored for $40 today at a camera show. Widest aperture on my kit lens was something like 4 but now I can go all the way to 1.8, hurrah! The camera is smaller, lighter and for some reason really quiet now... I love this setup already. The camera has a cropped sensor so 50 mm is actually pretty zoomed in, so between that and the reduced shutter noise (and total lack of AF beep), I'm beginning to get a nice street photography setup going....

Santana Row rarely disappoints.

Yeah. It's not even a boring slew of 911's, M3's and AMG's either—I saw some more eccentric, humble vehicles there today: some hot rod van and a Lotus Elan come to mind.

I love my 50mm lens; sounds like a similar lens, actually...max aperture is 1.8 and a cropped sensor. The hardest thing for me is managing the pinpoint focus at f1.8. It's *super* crisp in the middle of the range though. Love it.

Yeah, I'll be losing plenty of pictures to poor focus in this period of acclamation. Only had the lens for a day so I haven't gotten around to experimenting with the full range of aperture yet but I have noted what you said and look forward to trying it out!
